Lizzie's work emerges from two core beliefs: that human consciousness can always grow, and that divine consciousness is both loving and accessible.
Dr. DeGear teaches Bible Studies at the Church of St. Francis Xavier, as well as courses in psychology and religion at Fordham University's Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education.
As Chaplain for the Center for Urban Community Services, she creates and leads memorial services for their formerly homeless tenants. In other pastoral work, Lizzie collaborates on liturgies, workshops and initiatives within and beyond the Catholic Church.
A writer who loves delving into the mysteries of the Bible and of the human psyche, Lizzie has a PhD in theology from Union Theological Seminary, a Masters from Fordham University, and has been certified with the National Association of Catholic Chaplains since 2002.
